About Duchess de Savoy
Known as Mademoiselle de Nemours, was a French aristocrat born in Paris on April 11, 1644 and died in Turin on March 15, 1724. She was regent of the Duchy of Savoy. Coming from a French branch of the House of Savoy founded by Philippe de Savoie-Nemours, she is the daughter of Charles-Amédée de Savoie, Duke of Geneva, Nemours and Aumale, who died in a duel in 1652, and of Elisabeth de Bourbon-Vendome. Great-granddaughter of King Henri IV of France in the maternal line, she also bore the titles of Duchess of Geneva from 1659 to 1724 and of Aumale from 1659 to 1686, and was Louis XIV’s first cousin once removed. She was Duchess of Savoy by her marriage to Duke Charles- Emmanuel II of Savoy then regent for his son Victor-Amédée II.
About Nicolas de Larmessin II
Nicolas de Larmessin II, usually referred to as Nicolas de Larmessin or Nicolas Ier de Larmessin, born in 1632 and died in 1694, was a French engraver and publisher based in Paris, under the name of La Pomme d'Or.
He is mainly known for his prints representing the kings of France, from Faramond to Louis XIV, the queens of France and several popes, as well as for the plates known as the Grotesque Costumes, representing different trades.
