19th Century Chinese Apothecary Chest

Originally used to store medicinal herbs, spices and other apothecary items, this 19th Century Chinese Apothecary Chest is fitted with 42 small drawers and 3 longer drawers, all with interior dividers and brass ring pulls. The chest is made of solid elm wood with a gorgeous time worn patina that is smooth to the touch. Each individual drawer has been numbered on the side by its previous owners though not all of the chest’s custodians agreed on what drawers went where. Originally sourced by Mario Buatta for a private commission and featured in the March issue of House & Garden in 1980.

Condition: Very good, wear consistent with age & use
